1. Introduction and Background
Muthaiga Golf Club is committed to the growth and development of junior golf through the provision of structured, professional, and high-quality coaching programmes. The Club invites proposals from suitably qualified individual golf coaches to provide Junior Golf Coaching Services under a three-month contract for services.
The engagement is intended to support the development of junior golfers aged between 5–18 years by introducing young players to the game, improving their technical and tactical abilities, promoting sportsmanship, and creating a structured pathway from beginner level to competitive golf. The Club currently has approximately 470 junior members, with an active junior golfing population of approximately 80 players.
The appointed Junior Golf Coach will initially focus on beginner and intermediate golfers, with emphasis on:
- Fundamental golf skills and swing mechanics.
- Golf rules, etiquette, and course management.
- Player confidence and enjoyment of the game.
- Development of competitive pathways for advanced juniors.
The coaching programme will primarily be delivered through structured group coaching sessions, with juniors segmented into appropriate cohorts based on age, skill level, and playing ability. The programme will be funded through the Junior Kitty and Captain's Kitty, subject to availability of funds and approval processes.
2. Objective of the Assignment
The objective of this consultancy engagement is to appoint a competent Junior Golf Coach who will establish and deliver a structured junior golf development programme that:
- Provides consistent and professional coaching to junior members.
- Improves junior participation and retention.
- Develops golfers from beginner level through competitive stages.
- Supports junior competitions and inter-club participation.
- Promotes a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
3. Scope of Services and Deliverables
The appointed consultant shall report to the Golf Administration Manager and shall be responsible for the following:
3.1 Coaching Programme Delivery
- Conduct regular group coaching sessions for junior members.
- Provide a minimum of three (3) coaching hours per day during school days and Saturdays.
- Develop training groups based on age, ability, and development stage.
- Deliver beginner, intermediate, and advanced coaching sessions.
- Conduct school holiday golf clinics during April, August, and December holidays.
3.2 Technical and Player Development
The Coach shall provide training covering:
- Full golf swing fundamentals.
- Short game development.
- Putting techniques.
- Golf rules and etiquette.
- Course management.
- Golf strategy.
- Mental skills and confidence building.
3.3 Competition Support
The Coach shall:
- Prepare juniors for club competitions.
- Support the monthly Simba League.
- Support junior inter-club competitions.
- Identify talented juniors requiring advanced development.
- Accompany selected junior teams to competitions where required.
3.4 Administration and Reporting
The Coach shall:
- Maintain attendance records.
- Provide periodic progress reports.
- Provide monthly updates to parents/guardians through approved communication channels.
- Work with the Handicap Secretary to support junior handicap development.
- Assist with junior golf events and competitions.
3.5 Safeguarding and Welfare
The Coach shall:
- Comply with Muthaiga Golf Club's Safeguarding Children Policy.
- Ensure all coaching sessions are conducted in safe and observable environments.
- Maintain appropriate supervision standards.
- Promote inclusivity and equal opportunity for all junior golfers.
4. Consultant Eligibility and Minimum Qualifications
Interested consultants must demonstrate the following:
- Certificate of Good Conduct.
- Minimum 1–3 years' experience coaching junior golfers.
- Recognised certification in training of golfers.
- Valid First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within three months of engagement.
- Safeguarding Children certification or willingness to complete training within three months of engagement.
- Playing ability of handicap 0 or equivalent professional playing standard.
- Demonstrated experience working with children and young golfers.
5. Proposal Submission Requirements
Interested consultants shall submit one consolidated PDF proposal containing:
- Cover letter expressing interest in providing coaching services at Muthaiga Golf Club.
- Detailed CV highlighting coaching experience, junior coaching background, and professional qualifications.
- Coaching philosophy outlining the approach for beginner, intermediate, and competitive junior golfers.
- Proposed three-month coaching programme and schedule.
- Details of any support required from the Club.
- Proposed all-inclusive monthly consultancy fee in Kenya Shillings inclusive of all applicable taxes.
- Two references: one from a parent/guardian of a junior golfer, and one from a golf club, academy, or recognised golf institution.
6. Evaluation Criteria
Proposals shall be evaluated by an assessment panel comprising representatives from the Junior Committee and Head Professional based on the following criteria:

The Club reserves the right to invite shortlisted candidates for a practical coaching assessment session with selected junior members before award of the contract.
7. Contract Terms and Payment
- Contract Type: Three-month Contract for Services with an Independent Consultant.
- Contract Period: 1 July 2026 to 30 September 2026.
- Payment Terms: Payment shall be made monthly upon submission of an invoice, submission of coaching attendance records, and confirmation of satisfactory delivery of services.
- Performance Review: The Club shall conduct a performance review at the end of the three-month period to determine possible extension or future engagement.

9. Clarifications
